Sari in Sri Lanka
Mrs Sen came to our class to teach us about how to wear a sari and talk about the types of clothing women wear in Sri Lanka. She kindly showed us her jewellery and talked to us about her home country. She showed us how her mother wore her sari which is different to the Indian sari style. She asked Cliantha to model it.

Book Character Day
Today our whole school is celebrating books and reading by having a book character day. Almost everyone in the school dressed up as a character from a book. In Room 5 we have been sharing our favourite quotes from books we have read and giving short book reviews to the class. It has been a really enjoyable day. We haven't done a lot of work on our Unit on Asia but we will work extra hard on Monday.

Tomorrow's Writing Session (Tuesday)
Tomorrow we will be looking at reading and writing recipes. A lot of you have chosen to make an Asian dish for your Blooms Taxonomy unit. If you have a recipe that you are thinking about making bring it along. You might want to use your recipe during the lesson instead of the one that I'm going to provide for you.
We won't be cooking! We are just looking at the literacy side of it. If you have already made your dish you could bring along the recipe you used.
See you tomorrow!

Hi everyone. I have just got back from Vietnam today. I have had trouble getting on the internet most of the time I was away so I apologise for not approving your comments faster. This photo was taken in a village near a place called Sapa up near the China/Vietnam boarder. The lady on the left is my sister and the girl in the middle was our guide through the mountains. We went on a two day trek. It was awesome.
Can't wait to see you tomorrow :)

Vietnam and school holidays
Hi everyone,
I'm so sorry I haven't been able to clear the comments for a while. It has been harder than I thought to get onto the internet here in Vietnam. I have been to the most beautiful place I have ever visited called Halong Bay. I slept one night on a boat and one night in a bungalow where the sea water lapped underneath the floorboards. I have also been to Hanoi. Now I am in Sapa which is away up in the mountains. I traveled here in a sleeper train. I slept in a tiny wee cabin with three other ladies. I didn't like that very much. I have seen so many interesting people and places.
keep posting your comments to let us know what you are up to and read other people's comments. It was great that Chanelle's cousins have made comments.
See you soon. Go the All Blacks!!!
I miss you!!!

"My favourite bit was when you had to make the stretchers and had to find Jazmin A in the bush and then my least favourite part was the Sensory Trail because I hate being blindfolded. I was bawling my eyes out." Jazmine Room 3

More holiday snapshots
We are learning to write about a short space of time.
We will know we can do this when:

- included adjectives to describe feelings, tastes, smells and what we see
- described our thoughts and emotions.
